"Your biting sarcasm wounds me, Madam..."

On a side note:

The Boy told me the other night after reading my monday post that maybe I'm "a bit of a whiner*".

*He apologized soon after, realizing that this is my blog and basically my forum to whine and bitch as much as i want. Also that he probably shouldn't have said it in the first place. I guess that's what happens when you talk negatively about someone else's kids, eh? Yeah, they don't like it. Not even when its somewhat anonamously. Good to know.

That doesn't mean i'm going to stop.

Latest kid-news: his 7 year old son decided that he's a vegetarian.

Don't you usually wait until you're a good hormonal age - like 14 years old, to decide that kind of thing?
Not that i have anything against vegetarians, but his favorite food for years has been steak and chicken nuggets.

And i don't think he really likes vegetables.

He really doesn't like anything. Not even chocolate.

I'm at a loss here... this doesn't sound like a healthly lifestyle for a 7 year old.
Hmm...

  • Ummm....no.

My first response is to tell him he'll need to forage for his own food, but perhaps a pediatrician should be consulted.

You could always give him horse vitamins and tell him he'll need to swallow those if he's giving up meat.

Clearly I am not sympathetic to his cause.

  • I'm for the most part NEVER sympathetic to his cause.
He has all signs of a momma's boy and is induldged by her to no end.

He doesn't have to eat anything he doesn't like. EVER.

    Hooray for spoiled children.

  • I could just imagine his reaction to a Tofurkey. Ha!

I agree that vegetarian diets should be a very healthy lifestyle. However, a bunch of "vegetarians" i've known (one of which was an ex) have been overweight simply due to eating things that are not meat, ie: pizza, pasta and such. Oh and grilled cheese. PB&J. That kind of thing.

I don't think Small Boy will be any better at it. Though his mother claims to be making him vegetable meals, i'm not sure how long that will last before its just easier to give him crap. This seems to be the how it works over there anyway because Small Boy is a very picky eater. I don't think he's going to get the protein he needs to grow as i can't believe that he would ever touch a bean or egg. Just based on his mother's personality though, i wouldn't be surprised if she was incorporating tofu into her dishes.

I totally appreciate your input and will definitely google it since i have them this weekend and will not let The Boy feed him a PB&J sandwich for dinner.
